What is a Trustee
A trustee is typically a nominated person or company selected by the settlor of the trust. Generally a settlor will choose an individual or company with a quality reputation or credible personality to become the trustee as this position is essential to the successful operation of the trust.
In some cases a trustee can be the settlor themselves however this is only applicable if the jurisdictional trust law allows for it. Most times, the trustee is a close relative or family friend that will be chosen by the settlor for personal reasons.
Role of a Trustee
